Tuesday, July 17,2007
9:00 to 10:30 AM

TS SIS Program: Indigenous Government and Law in the Americas. LC classes KIA-KIX a Gateway to Web Resources?

Please join the panel speakers Richard Amelung, David Selden, Jolande Goldberg, a as they present history and current tribal law issues. Included in the discussion are the change of LC policy, name authorities for sovereign indigenous nations and interesting cataloging questions for some of the materials.

Cheryl Cook provides computer assistance for Jolande Goldberg as she discusses structure of the new schedules, Classes KIA-KIX (Law of Indigenous Peoples in the Americas) and different electronic options for accessing pertinent Web resources, a pilot project currently explored at CPSO, which may well set the patterns for other LC K (Law) classes. Handouts are provided.
